Advanced Maternal Age

This really makes you feel good about yourself when you are 17 weeks pregnant. I thought being told to go get a baseline mamogram made me feel old but then yesterday when I saw Dr. John Chapman and he called me.... Advanced Maternal Age...That just topped it. I am only 35....now your dad is very old...41! Everything appears to be on schedule for your delivery. You are fine however, because of my and your Dad's advanced maternal age, high levels of stress I am under at work, genetic problems in my family (blood disorders from Dad and NF2 from Mom) they are sending me to Charleston- MUSC on June 28th to have some more advanced testing done. We think it is all just for precautions. At 2:30pm we will meet with geneticist, at 3:30 we will have a 4D ultrasound (which sounds really cool) and then we may have an amineosyntesis(doesn't sound near as cool) if there are any questions with the other stuff. I honestly think everything is fine and this is just the doctors taking extra precautions. The really neat thing is that we will know on June 28th if you are a boy or girl! YEAH--Finally!

The nausea is getting somewhat better but we definately are not 100%. I still feel aweful in the morning. I am taking Zofran to ease the nausea. I have only had to take it in the mornings in the last few weeks. What a blessing. I was able to make it two days with out the Zofran but then I got sick the second evening at about 9:30pm. Needless to say, we are back on the zofran. So far, I have only lost about 4 pounds. We have decided you are going to be the last child. I have already talked with the doctors about tying by tubes when you come out.

Cravings lately are country ham and dasani water. I also seem to like desserts. I have found I can't eat much of anything...usually about 1/2 -1/4 of my normal meals. Your Dad and I still think you are a boy. Mary Catherine is holding out for a GIRL! We will know soon enough.
